Scandinavian Kitchens - vacation villas!

Well, I guess I took an unintended week of vacation from blogging...very busy week last week! But, more about that another time. After all, clients ARE #1!

I'm toying around with the idea of going to Denmark on vacation at the end of August. Which got me into the vacation villa, or "summerhus" as it's called, rental mode. A great place to look at REAL Scandinavian kitchens.  I found some lovely kitchens that may actually make you want to COOK while on vacation, do you think? In any event, surely, the design, and openness of a kitchen plan is conducive to happy and casual living in a rental. Who wants to be isolated in an entirely separate room if you don't have to be. A perfect reason to search for an open kitchen plan. Please go to nice summer and take a look. Oh...click on "Luxury Cottages."  Nice start.

I also found this great kitchen at klmdesign.dk.

You should talk to Vibeke Paone of Abbaka about your trip to Denmark. http://www.abbaka.com/ABBAKA_ContactUs.html
Vibeke is Danish and I'll bet she could hook you up with some fabulous stuff to tour.
We are fortunate to have Abbaka's showroom in SF, and Vibeke, and husband Frank, are always great hosts.
I LOVE their hoods too.

Thank you Peggy. I have met them at one of the shows. The quality of their hoods is fantastic.

I guess you were not aware. I've gone to Denmark my whole life, as my family from both sides are there, my parents having left Copenhagen after they were married. So, I'm firmly ensconced in my heritage. Thus, my interest in showcasing Scandinavian kitchens! I've visited the kitchen showrooms in Copenhagen for many years and have many brochures. Don't get me started!

Thanks for posting the Scandinavian kitchens! I'm in the process of designing my own kitchen right now, and I find your photos really inspiring. They're so simple and clean, yet full of character. I'll look forward to seeing more!

I was to Ikea last week for the first time. (outfitting my boyfriend's acupuncture office with some cabinets and shelving.)

Most items there are not great quality, but there were a few that were of note.

For the kitchen, they have some nice modular pieces. When I was in my 20s and had a non cabinet kitchens (there are a lot of rentals here w/metal sinks, free standing ovens and refrigs and no cabinets.) I would have bought one of these in a heart beat.
